Applying to Pre-College
The Skidmore Pre-College Program welcomes high-achieving, mature, and motivated high school students who share a common interest in preparing for college success. Our application is open and decisions are rolling. As courses fill up quickly, prospective students are encouraged to apply early for the best chance of enrolling in first-choice courses.
Application checklist

- $60 non-refundable application fee
- A personal statement. On one typed page (minimum), please tell us why you want to attend the program and what you hope to accomplish. You will upload your statement with your application.
- Official copy of your most recent high school transcript and a current grade report, submitted directly by your high school via electronic submission. The official transcript must contain current grades/marks since ninth grade. The application confirmation email will include instructions for your school to submit your transcript.
- Two letters of recommendation from teachers who know you well. The application confirmation email will include instructions for your teachers.
- Consent Waiver and Release (PDF or Word Doc) to be uploaded as part of the online application.
- Residential and Academic Life Agreement is included in the online application.
- Scholarship Application (PDF or Word Doc) (if applicable) to be uploaded as part of the online application. This must be received by March 15, 2025, along with all your application materials, including the high school transcript, current grade report, and two letters of recommendation, to be eligible for scholarship consideration. The Scholarship Application is waived for applicants from our partner organizations and schools.
Who is eligible?
Age/Grade Level Requirements:
Residential students: Must be a rising high school junior or senior residing and 16 or 17 years of age by the Pre-College Program start date. *Students who will be 18 years of age prior to or anytime during the Pre-College Program are not eligible to participate in the program.
Commuting students: Must be a rising high school sophomore, junior, or senior and 15-18 years of age by the Pre-College Program start date.
International Students: Non-matriculated international students are prohibited from enrolling in Skidmore summer courses.
How are applicants reviewed?
Completed applications are reviewed by the admission committee. Applicants are evaluated on academic excellence, intellectual curiosity and readiness to study and live independently in a college setting.
When are decisions made?
Admission decisions are made on a rolling basis; however, the deadline for scholarship applicants is Saturday, March 15, 2025. Applicants are notified of the admission committee's decision by e-mail. Accepted students must confirm their attendance with a $500 nonrefundable program deposit (the deposit is waived for accepted students who receive a scholarship award).
