Human Nutrition and Metabolism
The Human Nutrition and Metabolism laboratory at Skidmore College supports student
and faculty research aimed at analyzing aspect of resting physiological variables
such as metabolism, heart rate, and oxygen consumption. Skidmore faculty and students
utilize the following laboratory technologies in their research:
Metabolic Cart
Used to quantify oxygen consumption and, thus, energy expenditure in subjects
Venous Occlusive Plethysmographer
Used to measure blood flow in upper and lower limbs
Analox GM7 Micro-Stat
Used to identify and analyze up to thirty different analytes in whole blood and plasma.
