The Human Performance Research Laboratory is equipped with sophisticated instrumentation to support student and faculty Exercise Science research activities and interests.  Skidmore faculty and students utilize the following laboratory technologies in their research:

Bod Pod
Used for the assessment of body composition

Dual Energy X-Ray Absorptiometer (DXA)
Used for the assessment of bone mineral density and the quantification of body composition

HR Variability Instrumentation
Used to measure inter-beat variability and provide an assessment of autonomic nervous function

Metabolic Cart
Used to quantify oxygen consumption and, thus, energy expenditure in subjects

VeloTron Cycle

Used to measure the power output at varying workloads and riding situations
