Faculty, administrators, trustees, and alumni celebrated the era of President Emeritus Philip A. Glotzbach — 17 years of achievement and growth that helped transform Skidmore into the leading liberal arts college that it is today.

Benefits Fair and Open Enrollment   

Benefits Open Enrollment begins tomorrow Thursday, Nov. 2, and must be completed by the end of Friday, Nov. 17. A Benefits Fair will be held from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. tomorrow Thursday, Nov. 2, on the second floor of Murray-Aikins Dining Hall. Flu shots will also be available. ‌Mandatory HR compliance training  

All Skidmore employees (including student workers) are required to complete HR Sexual Harassment and Workplace Discrimination Training by Nov. 10. Campus COVID-19, flu vaccine clinics

Health Services is partnering with Adirondack Health and Wellness to offer updated COVID-19 vaccines and flu shots from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.on Friday, Nov. 10, in Falstaff's. ‌‌You can  to receive an updated COVID-19 vaccine, your flu shot, or both at the clinics. ‌Staff and faculty meetings

The November staff and faculty meetings will take place this Friday, Nov. 3. The staff meeting is scheduled for 1 p.m., and the faculty meeting will be held at 3:30 p.m. Additional details will be shared by email.

‌First-Generation Celebration reception 

All Skidmore students, faculty, staff, and alumni are invited to celebrate Skidmore’s first-generation students on national First-Generation College Celebration Day at a reception from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 8, in the Glotzbach Atrium of the Billie Tisch Center for Integrated Sciences. The program, which is sponsored by the Division of Student Affairs, will feature a photo booth, food, activities, and first-generation alumni speaker Altagracia Montilla ’12.

Facilities updates  

Facilities Services will be dredging Haupt Pond through mid-November, limiting accessibility. Construction of a new ADA-compliant sidewalk between Barrett Center and Wait Hall is scheduled for the first week of November. Pedestrian traffic will be redirected during this process. 

 

Kanatsiohareke 30th anniversary celebration 

The anniversary celebrates 30 years since the community of Kanatsiohareke was reestablished in New York’s Mohawk Valley, the traditional homeland of the Kanienkeha:ka, and will take place from 2 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, in Arthur Zankel Music Center. The event features film screenings, discussions, and performances by Mohawk artists. Tickets can be purchased ; all proceeds go to Kanatsiohareke. For more information, contact Zhenelle LeBel. 

 

Register now for a textile workshop with Ruby Chishti  

Ruby Chishti, a Pakistani-American fiber artist, will lead a textile workshop from 12:30 to 3 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 3, at the Tang Teaching Museum. The workshop is part of the 2023 Alfred Z. Solomon Residency. For more information and to register, visit the . 

 

Exchange Closet in need of donations 

The Exchange Closet needs donations, especially clean warm clothing, jackets, and outdoor wear. Please drop off any donations in Case 207 during regular business hours. Skidmore Theater: The Courage to Right a Woman’s Wrongs

“The Courage to Right a Woman’s Wrongs," a devilishly fun play by one of Spain’s most successful ladies of letters, will run Nov. 17-19 and Dec. 1-3. ‌Honoring our veterans

Please join us at 11:45 a.m. Friday, Nov. 10, at the flagpole near the entrance to campus for a brief ceremony honoring our veterans and recognizing the service of those veterans who are part of our Skidmore community. Unpacking recent Supreme Court decisions in higher education  

Join us as we discuss and unpack recent Supreme Court rulings and their impact on higher education, including the Harvard and UNC rulings on affirmative action and student loan forgiveness, from noon to 12:50 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 9, on the second floor of Murray-Aikins Dining Hall. Hear insights from Professor of Political Science Beau Breslin, Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid Jess Ricker, and General Counsel Sarah Vero, with conversation and questions moderated by Dean of Students Adrian Bautista. ‘Arboreal’ opening reception 

Schick Gallery presents the opening reception of “Arboreal,” an interdisciplinary exhibition addressing trees and the environment, to take place Thursday, Nov. 9, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. The exhibit features art by seven artists and research materials used to understand forest ecosystems supplied by Skidmore staff and faculty. Athletics News

The Skidmore College volleyball team returns to the Liberty League championship tournament for the first time since 2017. The Thoroughbreds are seeded fifth and will travel to fourth seed Vassar College for a quarterfinal game Nov. 7. The winner will head to Ithaca College to take on the top seed Bombers in a semifinal Nov. 10. In her second season, Coach Lindsay Bynon’s squad is 11-13 and will close out the regular season Nov. 3 at SUNY Plattsburgh. It will be a double stable game on Saturday, when the men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams host Vassar College at 1 p.m. For more information, visit the .
