A Panel Discussion will be held on Wednesday, September 10th at 6pm in Ganett Auditorium, Palamountain Hall: Featuring Exhibition Curator Toon Lauwen of Amsterdam, The Netherlands and designers Bob van Dijk, also of Amsterdam, formerly of the acclaimed Studio Dumbar, now of NLXL Studios and panelist Barry de Bruin of Ping Pong Design, Rotterdam. Moderator will be Deb Hall, Assistant Professor of Art, graphic design specialist.

The exhibition A Roadshow of Dutch Graphic Design (1990-2003) presents a selection of the diversity and color produced by Dutch designers and design studios over the last decade. From these posters, books, catalogues, brochures, house styles, annual reports, magazines and a few websites, it becomes evident that graphic design is well integrated in all forms of expression in Dutch companies, cultural institutions and government agencies. This multiform stream of communication is the result of good design schools and professional possibilities for designers. At the same time, the collected work bears witness to the energy, the daring and the entrepreneurial spirit of their clients. The collection also characterizes the culture of the Netherlands. It is a culture that offers ample space for individuality, tolerance and progressive opinions.

A Roadshow of Dutch Graphic Design (1990-2000) was previously shown in the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, Institut Néerlandais in Paris, Musée des Beaux Arts/Villa Steinbeck in Mulhouse, Musée des Beaux Arts in Valence-France, Maryland Institute College of Art, Baltimore-USA, ADGFAD/Laus 01 in Barcelona-Spain, Erasmushuis, Jakarta- Indonesia, the Design Center Stuttgart/Germany and the AIGA Gallery in New York. The exhibition is curated by Toon Lauwen/Lauwen Projects.
