Skidmore Retirees

Dorothy Hay

Dorothy began at Skidmore in 1969, doing clerical work in the Office of the Registrar. She moved in 1972 to the Office of the Dean of Studies (later named Academic Advising), where she provided secretarial support until her retirement in 1985. But she returned to campus in 1989—this time to Admissions, where she was a part-time data entry clerk for the next 10 years.

A native of Hudson Falls, N.Y., Dorothy was involved in a number of community groups. She was a Cub Scout den mother and a Girl Scout troop leader and as active in her church. An avid bowler, she was also known for her love of animals.

Son William predeceased her. Survivors included daughter Janis Petroski, Skidmore’s associate director of alumni relations and college events; daughter Lynne Goodwin of Sarasota, Fla.; son Jack Hay ’76 of Saratoga; eight grandchildren including Allison Petroski ’03 and Brian Petroski ’99; and a great-grandchild.
