November 3, 2016

The 2016 Election Night Extravaganza—starting at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 8—will take place in the Tang Museum's A More Perfect Union exhibition space. All are welcome to the free event.

While following TV reports of the voting results across the country, attendees will be treated to hearty appetizers early and pizzas later, student singing groups at the top of each hour, informal discussion, and words of wisdom from one or two Skidmore faculty experts. Political scientist Ron Seyb will also give a 15-minute talk, "Winning Was Easy. Governing's Harder. There's Gotta Be a Morning After (And How to Prepare for It)," that will consider the coming four years. He says, "I may talk about analysts' concerns that our politics could become even more dysfunctional. I may also address the possible consequences of the FBI playing You've Got Mail with people other than Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan."

There will also be a photo booth, and a nearby quiet room will be available for students wishing to switch between studying and checking in on the election coverage.

The "restorative evening" will include seasonal refreshments and is free and open to the public.
