The Harriet Johnson Toadvine ’56 Chair in 20th Century History is endowed to recognize excellence and enhance research and pedagogy among Skidmore’s faculty in the area of 20th century history. The recipient will be drawn from Skidmore’s History Department, and the first Toadvine Chair will be appointed in the 2016-2017 academic year. Nominations for the Toadvine Chair will be submitted to the Dean of the Faculty and Vice President for Academic Affairs, who will consult with the Promotions Committee in making a recommendation for appointment. Appointment to the Toadvine Chair, while renewable, is intended to support the work of a number of the faculty and will, therefore, be limited typically to terms of five years.
