March 1 staff meeting recap

March 4, 2024

President Marc Conner and College administrators offered brief updates on College initiatives and led staff in a Strategic Plan brainstorming session at the March staff meeting.

Director of Human Resources Julie Delay encouraged staff to review important changes to procedures for student employees, who will now use Oracle for their timesheets. Additional information has been sent by email.

Employees are invited to attend a Retirement Planning Workshop from 5 to 7 p.m. March 12-14. Visit the Professional Development and Training website to register and for other opportunities.

President Conner noted that Board of Trustees gave preliminary approval to the parameters of the 2024-25 budget in its February meeting. He encouraged employees to attend a budget information session from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, on the second floor of Murray-Aikins Dining Hall or via Zoom.

Vice President for Strategic Planning and Institutional Diversity Joshua Woodfork invited staff to participate in a Strategic Plan brainstorming session. Staff considered five Strategic Initiatives (creativity and academic excellence; increasing the endowment for need-based financial aid; the residential student experience; diversity, equity, and inclusion; and sustainability). Participants were asked to note what came to mind with each priority and what steps might be taken to achieve each initiative. Feedback from staff was collected at the end of the session.

Vice President Woodfork reminded employees about the importance of their input throughout the strategic planning process.

The next staff meeting is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Friday, April 5.
